Many people do not know the 'average' weight of chinchillas, so we have decided to make this page more fun by adding pictures of YOUR OWN chinchillas including their weight

Would you like to have your own chinchilla's picture on these pages?
It is a good habit to weigh your chinchilla - so you have a good idea if they are eating well, 3 ounce loss to you is small - but to them it could be an early sign of something wrong - so check your chins weight on a regular basis and get to know what their average weight should be!
Size doesn't matter - you can have a small chin with a heavier weight than a larger one in some cases
And keep in mind that chinchillas can fluctuate around 1oz to 2oz loss/gain throughout the year

Not all chinchillas weigh the same - at the same age
It depends on their breeding quality
The average weight of a 2 year old chinchilla from a pet shop could be - 16oz to 22oz
The weight of a 2 year old quality chinchilla from a breeder could be - 20oz to 30oz or more!
This is absolutely not a definite check on chinchilla weight - but it gives you an idea to compare
Males tend to be less in weight than females
