SUKI'S RESCUE

Suki's chinchilla rescue was founded
and run by Sue Sills
approx 9 years ago.

'We are based in Doncaster S.Yorkshire. I am helped at the rescue by my children Sian 17 and Josh 9. We are RSPCA inspected and in 2001 I was asked to do a talk and teach the staff at Bawtry RSPCA about chins. It was a great honor and it is good to be able to work along side them. We are self funded and make no profit what so ever, although donations are always very gratefully received as running costs and vet bills are high. We are supported by very knowledgeable vets who have taught me
to do a lot of treatments myself including injections.'

We take in mainly very sick and
severely neglected chinchillas
and special care mums and babies.

I have hand reared around 80 babies now
including many very premature ones

And I am happy to say that only one did not survive.

our rescue chinchillas do not leave here until they
are 100% healthy!

Sometimes they can be here up to 3 years
and we have a few chinchillas that will live
out their lives here due to their special needs or health problems.

Suki regularly has get together's with chin owners and the other rescue centres she works closely with.

We have a no breed policy on rescues and
after many years of trying we now have
a spaying neutering program with our vets,
that we are hoping will spread country wide.

We do have strict re-homing polices to ensure that these chins never end up in bad situations again.
